You could find plumbing issues when renovating

It’s often hard to see mistakes that a contractor makes in your home in Calgary, simply due to the fact that a lot of them can be hidden within the walls. For example, issues with electrical work or plumbing are things the average homeowner may never notice. However, professionals have warned that you can sometimes find out about these things when you decide to do renovations.

In some cases, issues can be fixed during the renovation process without much work. In other cases, though, entirely new plumbing lines have to be put in, which can be incredibly costly, adding a lot of money to the cost of an already expensive project.

There are some signs that you may want to look out for, however, especially if you suspect that the contractor did not do a very good job. These include the following:

— A knocking or clunking sound when you have the shower on. This could mean that the pipes were not installed and secured properly, meaning that the movement of the water makes them rattle.

— Leaky faucets. You especially want to look for faucets that leak when they are turned off.

— Inconsistent water pressure. This almost always indicates that there is a problem, even more than low water pressure. In pipes that are installed properly, even when the pressure is low, it should at least stay the same every time that you use the shower, tub or faucet.

If you have to make repairs based on errors made by a contractor, be sure you know what rights you have under construction law to seek compensation or have the repairs made by the original contractor.
