According to a lawsuit filed against an Alberta-based skydiving company, it failed to provide adequate training, resulting in a British soldier suffering severe injuries. The claim is seeking an award of $150,000. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom and may result in civil litigation before the case is resolved.
The incident in question took place on Aug. 11, 2012, northeast of Calgary at Beiseker. The solider who was injured belonged to the Scots Dragoon Battle Group, which was participating in a free-fall parachute training exercise in Canada. According to the suit, the soldier landed in an uncontrolled manner after losing control of his parachute. He suffered severe injuries in the incident. According to the lawsuit, the defendant failed to provide adequate training and education to the students.
